Defender 2000 (Atari Jaguar) - Leading off would have to be the Jeff Minter update of Williams' classic Defender. This time, he beefs it up with vertical and horizontal scrolling, humanoids that hang from the bottom of your ship and fire to help your cause, amazing speed and one of the best soundtracks ever. This is truly a gamer's game - if you're not a hardcore gamer, don't even consider it. Memorable moment: The first time you see what Yak's done to the end of level bonus screen. Too cool. |
